This is a fast-growing, slender, open tree, from 2 to 15m or more tall, with rough corky bark & fine, weeping pine-like foliage. Small reddish flowers appear on separate male & female plants, followed by round woody seed pods that are a food source for Glossy Black Cockatoos. Drought hardy once established, wind tolerant, and will grow in full sun or part shade. Very adaptable, growing well in many soils from nutrient poor sand to well drained clay.  

One of the best features of this plant is the soft rustling sounds which it produces during strong winds and small breezes. Best not to prune but let it develop its natural form.
