Carex appressa is a tough growing clumping sedge with upright, arching green foliage. Its ornamental brown flowers and seed heads appear on stems in spring. Will tolerate wet and dry soils, making this a great choice for rain gardens, difficult boggy sites, wetlands, dry river beds. Tolerates seasonal or temporary inundation.
Butterfly attracting, caterpillar food. Habitat for small birds. Leaves for basket-making. Appropriate in bio-filtration systems.
