Acacia oxycedrus is a small prickly shrub or small tree growing 1-3m high by 2m wide. Its long yellow spikes of flowers open in late winter to spring. It likes a sunny well-drained spot and is tolerant of most soils. Makes a great hedge to deter animals as it is very spiky. In the mountains it is mostly found from Faulconbridge down, but is frost tolerant down to -7oC
