This native Australian conifer naturally grows as a column, 8-12 metres tall by 2-4 metres wide at the base. It is hardy and although drought tolerant it will also grow in boggy spots. and in most soil types. If the soil is very poor some extra watering may be required until it is well established
It makes an excellent screen or hedge. Although the plants do not respond too well to hard pruning, they can however be pruned when young to shape. The dense foliage will provide safe nesting sites for small native birds and the timber is termite resistant.
Its common names are Port Jackson Pine, from Sydney region, also Oyster Bay Pine from the populations of Tasmania
