Growing at times up to 3 metres tall, but mostly only 1-2 metres, this unusual plant is often seen growing en masse in the bush after fires. The leaves have a somewhat spicy scent but may cause skin irritations so be careful when handling. It will flower in its second or third year , with striking soft reddish-brown flowering plumes, and die off after that. 

This unusual plant makes an interesting talking point to fill a corner somewhere in the garden.
